Render with Overscan add-on

Render with Overscan add-on

I decided to clean it up a bit and share an addon I originally wrote for myself a couple of years ago. It’s a pretty niche tool, but maybe someone will find it useful 😊

Render with Overscan. It lets you properly render an image with extra pixel portion for compositing tasks (while preserving the original camera FOV), which is critical for correctly integrating CG elements into live-action footage.

Key differences from similar addons:

  • Non-destructive workflow: the addon doesn’t modify scene or camera parameters
  • Supports animated camera focal length
  • Supports rendering from multiple cameras in a single scene (when switching the active camera via timeline markers)
  • Displays an accurate preview frame in the viewport, so you can immediately see what falls into the overscan area

The addon is available to download from the GitHub
